Every mineral-collagen plug listed here uses a bovine collagen carrier, including the products described as synthetic: the mineral is synthetic, the carrier is not. Bio-Oss Collagen's carrier is porcine and its mineral is bovine. The products whose mineral phase is synthetic are shown below, with the carrier stated on each.
No allograft plug is in this database. We did not find a mineral-collagen plug with an allograft mineral currently marketed in the US. One caution worth having: the RegenerOss brand covers both an allograft particulate and the synthetic carbonate apatite plug listed here, so the name alone does not settle the material. An allograft preference points to a particulate workflow rather than a plug.

Reading the chart
RegenerOss, REGENAFILL, Straumann SocketPlug, PreservaRidge and the Gibson Healthcare plug all list Collagen Matrix, Inc. as the company of record in the FDA’s UDI device registration database, read on the date below. Four of the five publish the same specification: approximately 80% synthetic carbonate apatite with 20% Type I bovine collagen, in 6 × 25 mm and 10 × 20 mm, five per box. PreservaRidge matches on everything except that its brand owner never names the mineral phase.
The UDI registration establishes who makes each device. It does not state that the five are the identical formulation, and we do not claim that. What a buyer can take from the public record: same registered manufacturer, matching published specifications, five brand names, five prices, none of them public.
MinerOss X Plug is also 80% mineral and 20% bovine Type I collagen, and its mineral is bovine cancellous bone rather than a synthetic. The ratio describes how much collagen it takes to hold mineral in a plug. It says nothing about what the mineral is, which is the part that differs.
Geistlich publishes Bio-Oss Collagen as 90% bovine bone granules with 10% porcine collagen: bovine mineral, porcine carrier, in one product. Every other collagenated product in the chart uses bovine collagen. Where a patient has a restriction on animal-derived material, bovine and porcine are not interchangeable, so the chart keeps the species rather than collapsing it to "animal-derived".
This applies to our own products too. SpongeGraft has a synthetic mineral phase and a bovine collagen carrier. Describing it as simply "synthetic" would be misleading at the moment that distinction matters.

These are claims, not findings. None of the figures above is an outcome you should expect, and one manufacturer publishes two different resorption windows for the same product across its own brochure and its US distributor’s page. Time to implant placement depends on the site and the patient, and bone readiness needs confirming clinically and radiographically whatever the packaging says.
A price per plug could be worked out for 2 of the 14 products, and both of them are ours. Every other channel checked either gates the price behind a trade login or publishes none at all: Benco shows a suggested retail price only to signed-in accounts, Straumann’s own US storefront renders no price, ZimVie routes to an ordering portal, and Glidewell offers a phone number instead. That is how the category works, not a gap in the research.

The collagen adapts to the socket walls and holds the mineral in place, which removes the mixing and packing that loose particulate needs. The mineral is osteoconductive: it acts as a scaffold along which the patient’s own bone forms.
